#214 – The Secret Doctor Strange Movie Between Doomsday & Secret Wars
Why Doctor Strange Might Be the MCU’s Most Important Missing Chapter

Transcript
What if Marvel already told us what happens between Avengers Doomsday and Avengers Secret wars and we just didn't realize it yet? Because I don't think the missing chapter of the Multiverse saga is another Avengers movie. Although that would be freaking awesome. I think it's a Doctor Strange movie. Unless they decide to change it into a full on Avengers movie, this will be Dr. Strange's, let's say Civil War. It'll incorporate more characters, it'll bring a lot of like Avengers vibes. But it's a Dr. Strange 3, and honestly, I think the story actually really demands it. Welcome back to Marvel Maniac and MCU After Show. This is Eric Cicada, your host, aka Mr. Honest. And today we're talking about something that sounds like a wild theory at first, but the more I think about it, the more it feels less like speculation and more like narrative logic. I think Marvel is quietly building toward a Doctor Strange film that sits directly between Doomsday and Secret Wars. Not as filler, not as a side quest, but as the chapter that actually makes the ending work. Because right now there's a hole in the story and it's shaped exactly like Dr. Strange. The first Dr. Strange movie isn't just about learning magic. It's a philosophy shift. Tony wins by building better armor. Cap wins by standing his ground, and Thor wins with power. Strange wins by surrender. He defeats Dora Mamu not by overpowering him, but by accepting pain, repetition and loss. Dora Mamu. I've come to bargain. That line still gives me chills. He gives Thanos the time Stone. A part of a grand plan that we don't even still fully see yet could be interpreted that the features he looked at went way past Avengers end game. For all we know, Dora Mamu was not a boss fight. That was an anti boss fight similar to Thanos. But they really had to. He really had to sell it to all the other Avengers that they're really trying to stop this from happening. But that Dora Mamu. I'm going back and forth between Thanos and Dormammu because it just shows a consistency and Strange in how he goes about his business as a superhero to save the world. Strange doesn't defeat inevitability, he negotiates with it. And if this entire Multiverse saga is about collapsing timelines, incursions and cosmic chaos, he doesn't punch fate, he studies it. At the end of the first film, Strange doesn't return to normal life. He steps into permanent duty. He becomes a guardian, a watcher, a guy stationed at the Sanctum dealing with threats most people don't even know exist. That movie ends less like Origin complete and more like Assignment Received. Then Infinity War shows him looking at 14 million timelines. And the multiverse of madness drops the real bomb. Incursions. Let me just say it again. Incursions. And Cleo literally, literally shows up at the end of the movie in the post credits to tell him he caused one. She doesn't warn him. She doesn't recruit him. She tells him it's time to fix it. And then the story just stops. We don't see what happens next. We don't know what he faces. We don't know what he learns. We just know that he leaves with his third eye with Clea into the Dark dimension, home of Dora Mamu. And we haven't caught up with them since. So it's been a while. That's not closure. That's. That's like I'm literally a missing chapter. I don't know if you've seen some of these CGI Marvel videos coming out these past weeks. AI is advancing rapidly, like Thanos. It was inevitable as well. We are seeing incredible scenes. I mean, I saw a fight between Scarlet Witch and Doctor Doom. The fight was insane. It looks so real. It. If you would have told me five years ago this is from a later Marvel movie, you won't believe it. I'd say, holy moly, that looks sick. You see it all over Twitter and Facebook this past week. I mean, if you haven't, you probably will run into something sooner or later. And it's not a spoiler. It's fan made ultra crazy super AI Power. And I just had to bring that up before we go further into the episode, because it's happening right now as we speak. I mean, between this moment right here and next week when we're doing the next podcast, more stuff will have come out there. We're, we're heading towards a revolution. We're heading towards some crazy times in fandoms right now. And it's going to be a mess with copyright and, you know, restrictions on AI and we have a lot of time between now and Avengers Doomsday. We're going to be getting so many AI made clips that we're not going to know what's real. It's scary good. I'm oddly excited, but very cautiously optimistic. But back to your regular normal human brain predictions. Doomsday will probably break everything. That's the big swing. Secret words will rebuild everything. But you can't jump straight from collapse to final war. You Need a chapter that explains the cosmic rules of what's happening. You need someone to understand incursions, navigate click collapsing realities, and face inevitability without panicking. That's strange. A Doctor Strange film in that gap wouldn't be filler. It would be the Recalibration chapter, the we can't Win the Old Way Anymore chapter. The movie that explains what the universe even looks like before the final battle starts. Without it, the saga risks feeling mechanical instead of mythic. So here's where I go. Full theory mode. Doromamu. Not just another villain. He exists in the Dark Dimension. Which might not follow normal multiversal rules. If that's true, there may be only one Doramamu across all reality. One Dark Dimension, many realities. Which suddenly makes his relationship with Dr. Strange way more important. Because if the multiverse is collapsing, Dora Mamu loses too. No worlds to consume, no realities to absorb, no Dark Dimension to expand into. So what if Strange goes back? Not to defeat him. To bargain again, this time not for Earth, but for the multiverse itself. Strange maybe needs his power to stabilize something. Or maybe they strike some sort of deal. Maybe Dora Mamu even steps in to the larger conflict. And maybe, just like before, the bargain doesn't hold. Because Dora Mamu isn't a hero. He's a force. And unleashing him into the multiverse could be the exact moment Strange realizes that the Ancient One was right all along. It's not about you. Because Dr. Strange, trying to fix everything himself might be what makes things worse. He's always gotta do the thing on his own. From the very beginning. He pulls the bullet out of that guy's head. In the hospital, he. He sees his broken hands after his car crash. And he's told by Christine, no one could have done better. We did the best we could. The way the delivery. Benedict Cumberback, his Dr. Strange. Beautiful. I could have done better. Seeing him lose his hands and go across that giant plane of a character arc in just probably about 20 minutes. For him to get to the Sanctum Sanctorum, meet the Ancient One, learn about the multiverse, learn about other realities very quickly. Falling through his own realities. I mean, Dr. Strange is the movie that explains all the craziness of the multiverse. Before we even question what the multiverse is. I may have wanted to get this video out a little while ago because I've been thinking about this and it's been ruminating, and I think that I'm onto something. I don't know if this is actually going to Happen for sure. None of us do. But if they wanted to make a secret Doctor Strange movie. Benedict Cumberbatch going on record thinking he's not going to be in Avengers Doomsday. This was in an interview. And then he was checked to go correct that and say that he will be in avengers doomsday. But Dr. Strange has been a leading, if not main character in the Multiverse saga, pulling the story forward. We learn about incursions through him. Most of the MCU doesn't even know what the Helen incursion is. He's got the knowledge of that he's causing incursions. And that's why he leaves into the the Dark dimension. And I can only imagine what he starts to go through in the Dark Dimension once he sees an incursion from afar and decides what he has to do next to save his world and the multiverse itself. Crazy thing about these movies, these team up movies like Avengers Infinity War, my favorite of all time, and this, there's so much they can go off of. There's so many characters they can use for the main narrative in their own light, from their own history. And it's all about culmination. And we did get movies in between Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame. We got Ant man and the Wasp. A little bit light hearted, but we get that post credit scene with Scott falling into the quantum realm. The biggest plot point to solve the problem at hand is given to us in that post credit scene. Then we get Captain Marvel, which is a fantastic movie as well. We don't know much about why she's being introduced now. Oh, because she gives Nick Fury this pager that we saw at the end of Avengers Infinity wars post credits scene. Things need to happen in between. But they can't go ahead and start promoting or even talking about this movie if it's happening. They got to get promotions out for Spider Man. They gotta lay the premise of Doomsday before they start to say anything about what's gonna happen after doomsday. That Doctor Strange first trailer probably will be hiding a lot of things that are gonna be happening in the movie. And like I said, this is speculation. There's no guarantee that this movie's happening. But I will say that I think a movie will be happening. If not this one. I don't know why it wouldn't be Dr. Strange. It sounds perfect to me. It sounds like, like the 100 yes, this should happen. And even if they do Secret Wars Part 1 and 2, I mean, Dr. Strange could still be that connective tissue into those movies. These are big stories. They need time to be told. And I think the Marvel fan base is ready for an arc through these Avengers movies. We need the characters, all of them, that we've learned about to come to play. And, yes, that sounds like a lot of characters for one movie, but if Infinity War could do it, the Russos can make it happen in Doomsday. And I have faith in the Russo brothers. So the Multiverse saga isn't about bigger explosions. It's about control versus surrender. Doom represents control. Dora Mamu represents consumption, and Strange lands in the middle, trying to negotiate survival. So if Marvel is serious about the ending of this saga, there has to be a Doctor Strange chapter between Doomsday and Secret wars. Not because we want one, but because the story demands one. And if that movie happens, it might be the most important chapter of the entire Multiverse saga yet, because Dora Mamu wasn't the last time Strange bargained with inevitability. He's going to do it again. And this time, the entire Multiverse is watching. Thank you so much for listening. We'd love for you to join our Discord. And we're building the fan base over there very slowly but surely. Pick your role. Join the Marvel Maniacs, and we can talk more about all this stuff, these crazy theories of what could happen, and maybe just something you say could be featured on the show. Rate the show. Give it five stars. Leave us a strong review. It goes a long way. It'll be read on the show. I'll say it one more time. There couldn't be a better time for a Doctor Strange 3. Until next week, Avengers disassemble.
What if Marvel already told us what happens between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars… and we just didn’t realize it?
In this episode of Marvel Maniac, Eric Sequeira (Mr. Honest) explores a theory that the Multiverse Saga may be missing one crucial chapter — a Doctor Strange film that bridges the collapse of reality and the final battle for the multiverse.
From Strange’s philosophy of surrender, to the incursion fallout of Multiverse of Madness, to the possibility that Dormammu could return as a cosmic wildcard, this episode dives into why a Strange-centered story might be necessary to make the saga’s ending feel earned.
Along the way, Eric also talks about the current state of Marvel fandom, the rise of ultra-real AI-generated MCU scenes circulating online, and why the MCU still feels alive between the movies.
If the multiverse is breaking… Doctor Strange might be the only one who understands how to fix it.
